Coconut fat is a fat burning fat. True story. So what happens when you make a coconut fat-based smoothie? You get a brain freeze from drinking it so fast because it tastes so good. AND you burn fat. Shwing!
I will note that part of the "fat burning" factor of this smoothie comes from using a low glycemic fruit like blueberries. You can replace the blueberries for other low glycemic fruits like strawberries, raspberries or blackberries; however if you were to add a higher glycemic fruit like banana or pineapple, it will be less effective from a fat burning perspective. Which is no problem! Still makes for a delish and nutrient-dense smoothie. My point there is simply if the whole "fat burning" thing appeals to you, then skip the banana and stick to the blueberries (which also happen to be super dense in antioxidants).
- 1/2 cup frozen blueberries
- 1/3 cup full fat coconut milk
- 1 tbsp coconut oil
Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. If you like a thinner smoothie, add more coconut milk. If you find you want it a bit thicker, add a few more frozen blueberries.
