So my favorite cold-pressed juice company, Lumi, makes this amazing juice - Upbeet Pear. I love it so much I wanted to recreate it by virtue of a creamy, delicious, nutrient-dense smoothie. Success! I know it sounds weird, but the jalapeño gives this such a fantastic zing. Give it a try! If you want to make this into a post-workout smoothie, replace the coconut milk with coconut water or almond milk (something with less fat).
Acai bowls are just about as trendy as the man bun. And hopefully they don't go out of style like the man bun most certainly should. I recently experienced a mind blowingly delicious acai bowl from a local juice/smoothie joint and it made me want to make my own. While, yes, it was amazing, I also watched how much of each ingredient they put into it. And let me just say, no one needs to be eating two bananas and a pound of strawberries in one sitting.
Holy crap, you guys. This is THE smoothie to make. I mean...everybody's doing it. You ain't cool if you don't make this shake and drink it on the reg. It's great pre workout, post workout...or for no reason at all other than the fact that you're in the mood for a ridiculously tasty smoothie that tastes as good as a milkshake without the detrimental health impacts of an actual milkshake.
Don't you love when a decadent recipe comes together with all but 3 or 4 ingredients? And like...no effort? Me too. That's what I offer you on this fine afternoon. Whether there's snow on the ground or you're sweating your cheeks off on a hot day, you can enjoy this lil' treat whenever. My milkshake, a) brings all the boys to the yard, and b) doesn't discriminate against weather.
Remember my Starbucks rant? Well...Starbucks strikes again with the magical holiday beverages. I always succumbed to their peppermint mocha flavored anything during the holidays, so obviously it became mandatory that I figure out how to get my peppermint mocha fix on without compromising my health. I have come up with two recipes so you can satisfy your peppermint mocha cravings in two ways - frozen or hot! A frappe in the winter seems weird, but who am I to discriminate against those of you in SoCal or Florida? And I'll admit...I've enjoyed this frosty drink amidst a light snowfall myself. And it was delightful.
Though the color freaks most people out, the taste of this smoothie is what's most surprising. There is a ton of spinach and nutrients packed in here, but the combination of banana, ginger, coconut butter and a killer protein powder is the trick to sipping a green smoothie down that doesn't taste like your front lawn. It's quite delicious and one of my go-to smoothies when I don't have time to cook!
