So my favorite cold-pressed juice company, Lumi, makes this amazing juice - Upbeet Pear. I love it so much I wanted to recreate it by virtue of a creamy, delicious, nutrient-dense smoothie. Success! I know it sounds weird, but the jalapeño gives this such a fantastic zing. Give it a try! If you want to make this into a post-workout smoothie, replace the coconut milk with coconut water or almond milk (something with less fat).
Acai bowls are just about as trendy as the man bun. And hopefully they don't go out of style like the man bun most certainly should. I recently experienced a mind blowingly delicious acai bowl from a local juice/smoothie joint and it made me want to make my own. While, yes, it was amazing, I also watched how much of each ingredient they put into it. And let me just say, no one needs to be eating two bananas and a pound of strawberries in one sitting.
Holy crap, you guys. This is THE smoothie to make. I mean...everybody's doing it. You ain't cool if you don't make this shake and drink it on the reg. It's great pre workout, post workout...or for no reason at all other than the fact that you're in the mood for a ridiculously tasty smoothie that tastes as good as a milkshake without the detrimental health impacts of an actual milkshake.
I love a good smoothie for breakfast - probably make one at least once per week. I especially love it when I can hide my intake of greens in them. My go to is my Green Goddess smoothie, but sometimes a girl can only handle so much tropical fruit in one week. I like this smoothie as a recovery drink - usually after an early morning workout. I get my carbs with coconut water, fruit and spinach and protein from a clean grass-fed source (SFH).
I don't know about any of you suckers, but I've been freezing my cheeks off as of late. It's winter and it's cold. And when it's cold, I crave warm and cozy dishes. Yes, it is my strong opinion that food can be cozy. It is also my strong opinion that oatmeal is an ultimate winter cozy dish. Well...too bad so sad. Oatmeal is a paleo no-no. Womp womp womp.
These little guys are the perfect snack for me when I need a little something to tide me over until my next meal. Often times, when I get home from work around 5pm and then have to go to the gym around 6pm to coach, I pop one of these truffles in my pie hole for a quick refuel and I'm good to go until I get home for my late dinner. I particularly love them because there is zero added sugar. No honey, no maple syrup, no guilt, no nothin'...they get their sweetness from my delish and super clean vanilla protein powder (SFH Pure, which comes from grass-fed cows).
Though the color freaks most people out, the taste of this smoothie is what's most surprising. There is a ton of spinach and nutrients packed in here, but the combination of banana, ginger, coconut butter and a killer protein powder is the trick to sipping a green smoothie down that doesn't taste like your front lawn. It's quite delicious and one of my go-to smoothies when I don't have time to cook!
